Music Distribution Intern

SUMMARY:

The Music Distribution Intern will assist and support the team with operations relating to artists and labels releasing music to consumers in the world of independent music.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with daily operations related to data entry and data organization.
  • Assist with queueing music releases.
  • Assist with copyright handlings for each DSP provided.
  • Assist with high-priority artist releases including inquiries and digital release support via email communication.
  • Assist with retrieving artist assets and metadata via Google Sheet.
  • Assist with quality assurance as needed.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks as needed including but not limited to research related to client catalog.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must currently be a Junior or Senior enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • A student enrolled in post-secondary program with interest or experience in record label and/or distribution operations
  • Familiar with streaming/download platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport, etc)
  • Familiar with social media platforms (Tik Tok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat) 
  • Ability to organize large amounts of data efficiently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to be detail oriented and manage time effectively
  • Previous music industry coursework/training preferred
  • Familiar with many genres of music, including Hip Hop, Pop, Global, and various subgenres of dance/electronic preferred
  • Previous experience with different CMS software preferred

PAY SCALE: 

  • This internship is for college credit.
  • Must be enrolled in a university and continue to be enrolled for the duration of the internship.
  • Graduates are not eligible for the internship.
  • Must be able to provide documents/eligibility requirements in order to receive college credit or the applicant will be disqualified.
